Business Journal article by the Owner of Leading Financial Accounting

2019 Mileage

Start 2019 with keeping track of your mileage. Depending on how much you drive, mileage is usually a bigger expense over actual costs of auto repair and maintenance. Also, if the vehicle is used for both business and personal, you can only deduct a certain percentage of the mileage.

Some great apps to download and use to track mileage include:
Everlance
Hurdlr
MileWiz
TrackMyDrive
MileIQ

These are all free apps and available to use as a mileage tracker. The standard business mileage rate for 2019 is $0.58 per mile. Again, situations may vary but mileage is a great deduction if you drive a lot of business miles. Business miles include meeting a client, to and from.

Remember, if you use the actual expense method the first year, you must use it for the life of the vehicle.
